The NBTF Project (Padua)

Since 2015, Synecom has provided engineering, procurement, and installation services for the Neutral Beam Test Facility (NBTF), covering SF₆ gas management, vacuum systems, and high-voltage power supplies.

ITER & Fusion Energy

We play a critical role in the ITER project. Beyond gas supply, we are responsible for the design and installation of complex distribution and recovery systems, including the handling of over 70 tons of SF₆ and the development of cryogenic distribution lines.

Founded in 2005, Synecom has spent over two decades evolving alongside the world’s most demanding scientific projects. Our partnership with the ITER project began over a decade ago in 2015 at the Padua site (NBTF). Based on our proven performance in managing complex distribution systems and high-voltage power supplies, our role expanded in 2024 when we were awarded the critical ITER tender for SF₆ gas supply at the Cadarache site in France.

We do not work from a rigid product catalog; our true capability lies in engineering what has never been built before. Because Big Science projects demand bespoke, first-of-its-kind solutions, we are structured to handle any complex infrastructure or critical component from the ground up. We treat innovation as a core capability. Key milestones include constructing our first specialized SF₆ gas regeneration plant back in 2014, and more recently, patenting our F-Green system. This proprietary technology allows research facilities to perform real-time monitoring of SF₆ gas, ensuring peak operational efficiency while guaranteeing the highest level of environmental safety and zero-leakage maintenance.

We actively invest in the future of applied physics and engineering through strategic academic and institutional collaborations. Synecom sponsors advanced PhD research at the University of Padua (UNIPD) focusing on high-voltage gas-insulated components. Additionally, we work on the frontier of fusion energy by developing Neutral Beam Injection (NBI) applications for the DTT project at the prestigious ENEA Research Center in Frascati.
